Indian Government has proposed an energy efficient LED bulb promoting program with BEE and EESL, in which every citizen can buy LED lamp only for Rs.10.

LED light bulbs are highly energy efficient lighting source for urban areas. LED Lamp does not contain mercury so it is eco-friendly by nature. LED Lamp lasts for very long period of time and uses only one-tenth of the energy than normal incandescent bulb. First LED bulb made in India was sold for Rs.1200 in year of 2010. In just 4 years, government has found a solution to provide these energy efficient LED lamps at very low cost, which is really admirable step.

To reduce consumption of huge amount of electricity, The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) have started LED lamp promoting program in which every citizen will get LED lamps for just Rs. 10 per LED lamp. Government has got inspiration to give brighter future to their citizens with less use of electricity, when a Noble prize awarded to physics scientist for inventing blue light emitting diode (LED).

The BEE and EESL have started joint venture with four central public sectors to produce business model bulb. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has launched the energy conversation Mission’s Demand Side Efficient Lighting Program (DELP) in state. This program will be promoted to replace incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED bulbs.

Highly efficient LED bulbs have been started to sell under the DELP in Guntur. After Guntur, DELP will cover Anantapur, West Godavari and Srikakulam districts to encourage people for use of LED bulbs. Moreover, the Union Power Ministry has also determined that every household that comes under the poverty line will be provided electrification with the LED technology under the Gandhi Grameen Vidyuthikaran Yojana (RGGVY). As well as in Pudhuchery, EESL have completed replacing of streetlight into LED streetlights also project to replace CFL bulbs with 750,000 LED bulbs is on progress.

      10 Rs LED bulb government scheme is limited to Delhi only. Surat city is not eligible rightnow. But if you are still planning to replace CFLs then i suggest LED bulbs of Philips and charslton lights. However Chalston Lights is Indian manufacturer and local company from Ahmedabad and quite good specifications as well as good price range than philips.

    I am from Ghaziabad in Utterpradesh.
    Sir, you can remove the curtain from how many LED bulbs a person can buy. Is there a limit or can you buy in bulk individually.
